Feedback they can't misread
Why written feedback goes round in circles
“Can the header feel a bit more premium?” “The button on the second section is off.” Written feedback is full of words that mean something precise to the writer and something else to the reader: which section, which button, off how?
Screenshots with arrows help, until there are twelve of them in a thread and nobody knows which one is current. Every round of clarification is a day lost on both sides.
Giving feedback with a recording
- 1
Open the page as the visitor sees it
The live page, the staging link or the design file — whatever you are reviewing. - 2
Record and walk through it
Scroll through in order and talk as you go, the way you would if you were sitting next to the designer. - 3
Draw on what should change
Circle the element, draw an arrow to the gap, and say what you want instead — and why. - 4
Send one link
Stop, and the link is copied. One link carries the whole round of feedback, in order.
For agencies and freelancers
It works in both directions. Collecting feedback: ask your client to record their comments instead of writing them, so you get the page, the order and their tone of voice. Presenting work: record a walkthrough of what you changed and why, so the client reviews it in context instead of opening a bare link and guessing what to look at.
The advice on what to say, and how to keep a feedback round short, is in how to give clear website feedback.
What makes recorded feedback useful
- One recording per page or topic, so each can be acted on and closed.
- Say what matters most first: “the price has to be visible without scrolling” before “the icon is slightly small”.
- Say why, not just what. The reason lets a designer find a better fix than the one you suggested.
- Mention the device or screen size if the problem only shows on one.
Client feedback questions
Does my client need an account to watch my recording?
No. A Sayvio link plays in any browser without an account or a download.
Can my client record feedback for me?
Yes, if they add the Sayvio extension to Chrome (or Edge or Brave) and create a free account. They record the page, talk through the changes, and send you the link.
Can I give feedback on a design file, not a live website?
Yes. Sayvio records whatever is in a browser tab, a window or your whole screen, so a design tool, a PDF or a staging site all work.
Can viewers leave comments on the recording?
Not on the free plan: there, you can comment on your own recordings. Comments for everyone in a team are part of Pro. Most people reply to the link in the same email or chat thread.
