Draft — this describes how Sayvio works today, but it has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Have it checked before relying on it.
What we hold
Your email address and password, which are held by Supabase, our authentication provider. We never see your password.
The recordings you upload, and what you have named them. Video files are stored with Supabase Storage. Everything else — titles, dates, whether a recording is shareable, and how many times it has been watched — is held in our database, also with Supabase.
Recordings you save to your computer instead of uploading never reach us.
Counting views
A view is counted when somebody starts playing a shared recording, not when they open the page, and link previews in apps like Slack are not counted. So that the same person replaying it within half an hour counts once, the watch page sets a cookie called sv_vk, which holds a random identifier and lasts a year. If the viewer is signed in to Sayvio, their account is used instead.
The extension
The Sayvio extension records only when you start a recording, and it only uploads to your own account. While it records and uploads, it reports what happened — for example that a recording started or an upload failed — with the recording's identifiers, your operating system, your browser and the extension's version, so we can find faults. Our server accepts these reports and does not store them.
When you start a recording, the extension notes the context it was made in: the address of the page you started from (without anything after a “?” or “#”, and with parts that look private, such as email addresses, reset or invite codes and long identifiers, replaced), its title (with email addresses removed), your browser and its version number, your operating system, the size of the browser window, what you chose to capture and whether your microphone and camera were on. It is sent only with a recording you upload, is shown only to you until you choose to put it on the share page, and you can remove it from the recording's page.
AI analysis
Sayvio can transcribe a recording and draft a summary or a bug report from it, but only when you ask it to, on that recording. To do that:
- Google (Gemini) is sent the recording itself, picture and sound, to watch; for a long recording, a smaller copy at one frame per second.
- Groq is sent the recording's sound alone, to transcribe it, and, if Gemini cannot watch the recording, a few still frames from it.
- The draft is written by Groq or Gemini from what they found, the transcript, the notes you wrote and the recording's context. Sayvio can also be set up to fall back to Anthropic (Claude) when both are unavailable, sending the words alone, never the picture or sound; it is off unless we switch it on.
What comes back is shown only to you, as a draft; nothing reaches the share page until you edit and save it, and you can delete the draft and its transcript at any time.
Google's terms for the free Gemini API allow Google to use what is sent to improve its products and allow its human reviewers to read it. Until Sayvio uses a paid plan, which Google does not use this way, do not analyze recordings that show anything confidential. Recordings you never analyze are never sent to an AI provider.
Measuring the site
The website loads Google Analytics so we can see which pages are visited and how people move between them. Google receives the page address, an approximate location from the network address, and the browser and device, and it sets its own cookies in the browser. This is separate from the view count on a recording, and it does not include the recording itself.
What we do with it
We use it to run the service: to show you your recordings, to play them for the people you send links to, and to work out how much of your allowance you are using. We do not sell it, and we do not train anything on your recordings ourselves; what an AI provider may do with a recording you ask Sayvio to analyze is described above.
Who can see your recordings
On the free plan, a recording you upload can be watched by anyone who has its link — so treat a share link as public, and do not post it anywhere you would not post the recording itself. Private recordings, which nobody can reach by their link, are part of Pro, which is not on sale yet. If you add a recording to a team, the team's members can see it.
Our staff do not watch your recordings. We may need to look at metadata such as file sizes and error logs to fix a problem you report.
How long we keep it
On the free plan, each recording in the cloud is deleted, file and all, once 30 days go by without anyone watching it.
Deleting things
You can delete any recording from its page. That removes it from your library, stops its link working and deletes the video file from storage. Ask us at our support address, once it is published to close your account and we will remove your recordings and your account details.
